A wonderful function of most blogs is the IP Ban feature.. what this does is for bot spam postings is allow you to ban the (IP) address they post from. If a bot is posting from a dynamic ip you can ban an IP range. i would advise you be careful with ip range bans though as you could block legitimate visitors access to your site.

Dreamweaver Templates

One of the cool things you can do with dreamweaver is templates. Templates allow you to setup a basic layout for your site with editable content areas. When you add a page to your site that uses a template as the base it will keep you from accidentally messing your layout up, as well as updating links and styles throughout all the pages that use your template.

Heres a good tutorial on Templates in Dreamweaver: http://www.sitesoutlet.com/

Javascript can at first look like a monster of a language to learn, but the only really bad parts of it are how they handle the DOM for easier DOM Manipulation you can use this wonderful javascript extension known as jquery.
JQuery allows you to manipulate the DOM using a css model of operations rather then the normal Javascript one.
